Decorah High School offers three Project Lead the Way courses. These courses provide students with rigorous, relevant, hands-on, project-based learning experiences.

PLTW Courses 

Introduction to Engineering and Design (IED) 

Introduction to Engineering and Design (IED) allows students to use sophisticated three-dimensional modeling software to improve existing products, invent new ones, and communicate the details of the products to others.

Principles of Engineering (POE) 

Principles of Engineering (POE) uses student activities, projects, and problems to explore the wide variety of careers in engineering and technology, and examines various technology systems and manufacturing processes.

Biomedical Science 

Biomedical Science uses the same tools used by professionals in hospitals and labs. Students engage in compelling, hands-on activities, and work together to find solutions to problems. Students take from the course in-demand knowledge and skills they will use in high school and for the rest of their lives, on any career path they take.

AP Computer Science Principles (CSP)

Using Python® as a primary tool and incorporating multiple platforms and languages for computation, this course aims to develop computational thinking, generate excitement about career paths that utilize computing, and introduce professional tools that foster creativity and collaboration.  CSP helps students develop programming expertise and explore the workings of the Internet. Projects and problems include app development, visualization of data, cybersecurity, and simulation.
